Types of Homemade Mouse Traps
There are dozens of DIY mouse trap ideas on the Internet, but there are two that tend to be most effective. The first is the bucket method, where you place a ramp next to a large bucket. You can spread peanut butter either in the bottom of the bucket or on a cylindrical beam placed gently across the empty lid space. The mouse will fall into the bucket while trying to reach the peanut butter and fall into the bucket, where they cannot climb out.
The second DIY mouse trap that can work involves placing bait beneath bowls or boxes that trigger a trapping mechanism. Regardless of which option you use, though, remember to be very cautious when setting up or cleaning out the trap. Rodents of any kind can transmit serious diseases, whether they are live or dead – and even by just contaminating a surface. Be sure to keep these traps out of reach of children or pets.
